Small Things Big Difference (3) – Words Matter

Welcome to CROLCC, we are so glad you are here worshiping with us. We are in the middle of our series Small Things Big Difference and we have asked you to focus on one area in your life that you would like to see change, and begin to think about the small things you can do related to that change so you will see the big difference you want to see. Last week we talked about one small thing we can do is by changing our thoughts. Our thoughts are powerful. Because when a person thinks, a person becomes. Therefore we are learning to capture destructive thoughts, and to think constructive thoughts. I hope you have been practicing that all last week.

Today we are going to talk about the next small thing we can do for us to see that big difference –changing our words. Have you ever paid attention to the words that are coming out of your mouth? We are going to do a word audit today.

Do you tend to speak life taking words or life giving words? We will talk about the power of our words and as we pay attention to what we say, we will definitely make a big difference in our lives and in the lives of others.

Moving Forward

Our words have the power to “take-life” or to “give-life.” God has designed the human soul to be powerfully affected by words. This requires us to pay attention to the things that we say. This week, identify what you need to say to yourself and others that will give them life, and say it to them.

Discussion Questions

1. How have negative words that have been used of you shaped your life?

2. What is one of the most encouraging things someone has ever said to you?

3. Why are we so affected by the words that people say to us?

4. Read Ephesians 4:29. How did God design the power of words to be used? Why would God intentionally make words have such life-altering power?

5. What life-giving words do you need to speak to yourself and others? What can this group do to help you?
