Right in My Own Eyes (5) – Extraordinary

Welcome to CROLCC, we are so glad you are here worshiping with us. We have been in our series Right in My Own Eyes and we have been pondering basically this question, “Am I going to do what’s right in my own eyes? Doing what everybody else is doing? Or am I going to live my life from the inside out and do what’s right in my own heart? The heart where the spirit of God lives.” We have said that how you answer that question and how you answer that question consistently will determine the direction of your life.

Another question I think it’s important for us to think about is this – What kind of person do you want to be? Have you thought about that question recently? After the meeting, after the family reunion, after your visit, when people have to stand and talk about you when you’re gone, what do you want them to say? Did you know you have control over that? Because what you do and what you say matters, and it matters more than you think. What if you decided to be . . . extraordinary?

Moving Forward

You can spend your life doing what you want, when you want, with whom you want like everybody else. But if you do, you’ll never become the best version of you. You will never be extraordinary. A relationship with God isn’t about staying out of trouble. It’s about being extraordinary. Don’t just be like everybody else, be extraordinary.

Discussion Questions

1. What is one thing you haven’t done that you want to do before you die? Have you taken any steps to do it? Why or why not?

2. Do you think our culture values being extraordinary at something or being an extraordinary person? Explain.

3. Why do you think most people believe they have to accept living an ordinary life?

4. Read Judges 6:11–16. Do you find yourself reacting the same way as Gideon when called upon? What causes you to do so?

5. In what area of your life do you need to ask, “What would an extraordinary person do?” How can this group help you to answer that question?
