In the Meantime (4) – The Value of a Dream (Christa Proctor)

Welcome to CROLCC, we are so glad you are here worshiping with us. What do you do when life hasn’t gone in the direction you hoped or wanted it to go and there’s nothing you can do to change your circumstances? What do you do when you’re living “in the meantime”? If you’ve ever been in the meantime or if you’re currently in the meantime, you can’t help but conclude you’ll never be happy again, nothing good can come from your circumstances, and there’s no point in continuing.

We have been in our series In the Meantime and we have discovered together that God is not absent, apathetic or angry when we have those in the meantime moments. We also discovered that when God chooses to say no to our requests, He will always give us sustaining grace. Our option is to receive our adversity as a gift with a purpose and a promise. Last week we learned the mystery of staying content in all circumstances, and I hope you have been practicing your prayer in the morning and at night. Today, we have a very special speaker to share with us her story of “in the meantime.” Please give a very warm welcome to Christa Proctor.

Moving Forward

When you focus on what’s wrong, you lose sight of what God makes right. Whatever happens in your circumstances, don’t lose sight of your confidence in God.

Changing Your Mind

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.

Hebrews 10:23

Discussion Questions

1. Do you tend to be patient or impatient? How does that tendency affect your relationships and the way you deal with your circumstances?

2. Talk about a time when you’ve asked, “Why is this happening to me?” What did you do to manage the circumstances that caused you to ask that question? What was the result?

3. During the message you heard about personal dreams. Do you have one? Are you on your way to fulfilling your dream? Why or why not?

4. As you consider your current circumstances, what is one thing you can do to begin to focus on what God can do instead of what is going wrong? What can this group do to support you?
