Welcome to CROLCC, we are so glad you are here worshiping with us. We are now officially into the fall season which means we are getting closer and closer to the election. No matter who are you going to vote for, no matter if you decide to vote or not, I want to encourage you to continue to pray for our governmental leaders. It is not easy trying to do the right thing while having the pressure to please the people that voted for you. They are human beings facing the same pressure, the same temptations just like us. They need our prayers, because only our Heavenly Father can give them the wisdom that they seek. And only Jesus can give them the peace that they need.
Today I have asked pastor Frank to talk to us about his perspective on how Christians should respond in an election year. He has been leading Bible studies and counseling people at the State Capitol and knows how it feels to work there. Although he is not leading a church, he has a tremendous pastoral heart for the people that work at the State Capitol. We are grateful for his work and we are partnering with him both prayfully and financially. We believe if Jesus can transform our leaders, He can transform our state and our country. Please give a warm welcome to pastor Frank.
Moving Forward
It is fun and easy to agree and disagree with those that are running during an election year. But it’s far more difficult to pray for those that are running, especially those that you disagree with. As Christians we are called to pray for our governmental leaders. Please remember to pray.
Changing Your Mind
Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing. Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God.
Psalm 146:3-5
Discussion Questions
1. How do you usually react and respond to an election year?
2. Have you done anything different during this election year as oppose to the last time? If so, what have you done different?
3. As Christians we know that our ultimate hope is in Jesus. What can you do proactively to exercise that faith?
4. How can you pray for those that you disagree with? What can this group do to support you?
