God’s Gift of Rest – Pastor Neill Jenkins

Welcome to CROLCC, we are so glad you are here worshiping with us. Today marks the beginning of November and the year definitely feels like is drawing to an end. With so many things going on in December I feel like often times November is a good time to reflect on how the past year went. If you are a goal setter, did you achieve all your goals this year? Or close to achieving them? If not, did you set too lofty a goal or attended to things that were a little more urgent? By nature I am not really a goal setter, but as I learned to be a better leader, there are things that I will evaluate in my life and check to see if I am 5% better than last year. If I can be 5% better every year, then in 10 years I should be a lot better as a leader. 5% is not too hard of a goal, is it? I want to encourage you to do the same.

One of the main reasons that we don’t take time to reflect is because we are always on the go.  Life is busy, if we are not attending to our own needs we are attending to others’ needs.  But rest and reflection is so important to a person’s health and well-being.  Do you still remember at the beginning of the year I preached on “Breathing Room?”  Have you created breathing room in your schedule, your finance and your work/family relationships?  If not, it’s not too late, and that’s why I am so glad today pastor Neill is going to talk about God’s Gift of Rest.  Just like what we have talked about in our last series, rest, is a faith issue.
