1.Why do Christians need to be in ministry

2. Is ministry and serving the same?
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” (Roman 12:1)
Ministry is translated as “service of worship”
The Greek word λατρεία means serving God and has the same root as worship
not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; (Rome12:11)
This word Δουλεύω was translated to “serving” which means to be a slave to，be in bondage，service
“Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” Matt20:28
Even though the Englsih sitll translated this word as serve,but in Greek διακονέω means to be an attendant，wait upon，act as a Christian deacon，minister
Conclusion:These two words have similar meaning, but it seems that “ministry” has broader meaning and more specific towards God. Serving is more towards men.
3. Another original Greek word for worship is avad: Meaning includes ministry, serving, working, worshipping, so worship also includes being in ministry. In the broader meaning, it also includes serving and living everyday

Ministry does not mean to participate in some church functions. To ministry means: living for God, putting God first. Love God, serve God and serve the people.
