Pastor Don – How to invest in the next generation

Time flies by, and we are now in June. In another words, the church has entered a different stage, and a new leader has been leading for six months. For me, when I took the job, it was a special experience in my ministry years and was full of challenges. Although this church was started by Pastor Huang and I and it’s an old church to me, but God wanted me to see the church and people in a new light. Another interesting fact: we did not own a building, but now we do, and I had to learn how to work the alarm, open/close entrances, turn on light switches, the AC system, pay bills, and stock supplies—every detail. Before, pastor Huang and I work side by side pastoring and building, but I’m now the main pastor which is a fresh experience for me. I have moments of panic, because I’m usually supporting, and I wasn’t sure if the congregation will accept a female pastor. I’m now in charge of pastoring, preaching, administration, lead Sunday, provide church vision and meetings, I wasn’t sure if I was up to the task.
Not only was I concerned about the matter, so were the brothers and sisters and many people ask me if I’m tired. This past half year was challenging, and sometimes I thought I couldn’t get through on a couple of occasions. But let me testify that God’s grace is sufficient, and I experience God’s promise that for those who rely on Him will not be brought to shame.
If I were to grade myself on the last few months, perhaps I got a passing score. Looking at the church ministry, we are getting through the best we can, but my goal for myself and the congregation is to keep going. Once we are in the 7th month, there will be restructuring of core leaders, ministry teams, people serving in different areas. I hereby encourage everyone to make this church your big family and find a place where you can join.
