Dealing with Delay (Russell McCollough)

Welcome to CROLCC, we are so glad you are here worshiping with us. What do you do when life throws you a curve ball? Perhaps I should ask, what often is your first reaction when the unexpected happens? Some people get angry when their path deviates from their plans, some get upset, some even get depress when life throws them a curve ball. But how should a Christian react when the unexpected happen? Have you ever thought about that question? Do you even notice how you have reacted?

I think it’s safe to say if you have lived long enough you know unexpected things happen in life. It’s just a matter of when it happens. I don’t like it as much as you do when that happens to me. But I have learned to react positively when that happens. Of course I am not perfect, I get angry and upset just as much as you do. But when the unexpected happens I pay attention to my attitude toward it more than asking why it happens. I believe it’s important because people are watching us, they may never remember what we say, but they will always remember how we act.

Here’s how I would want to react – to show myself and people around me that I have a Heavenly Father that can be trusted. And that He will always have my best interest in mind. If we can keep that front and center, we can tackle any unexpected situations that life throws our way.
