The Blueprint of Life (2) – Master Plan (2 Peter 3:4-9)

[audio:ec_041413.mp3]

We started a new series last week and we are talking about finding God’s will for our lives.  I am guessing some of you might still have lots of questions after last Sunday but I want to ask you to be a little more patient.  After all, finding God’s will for your life is a big deal!  And my hunch is it’s going to take some time for most of us to find that out.  The good news is if you are willing to do what I encourage you to do every week during this series, I assure you that you will be on your way in finding out God’s specific plan for your life.  Therefore, first thing first, have you taken the time to rest last week focusing on God?

Ok, even if you haven’t, you are going to have another chance this week.  Today we are still going to talk about the fundamentals of finding out God’s plan for our lives, but we will get a little more specific.  We are going to look in the Bible and we are going to attempt to place “God’s will” in specific categories.  Because the Bible includes people that had a clear understanding about God’s will for their life.  What did they know about God’s will that we don’t?  Today we will get better at discerning God’s will for our lives.

Changing Your Mind

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:9

Discussion Questions

1. Have you ever asked God to show you his will for your life?  When?

2. When have you faithfully or unfaithfully participated in the providential will of God?

3. Should the moral will of God extend to people who don’t believe in God?

4. Read 2 Peter 3:4-9.  What is one area where the providential, moral, and personal will of God clearly intersect?

5. How does submitting to the known will of God help us to discover the unknown?
