The Blueprint of Life (1) – Core Value (Colossians 3:1-4)

It was so wonderful last Sunday as we witnessed fiver brothers and sisters commit their lives to Christ.
Like I said last week, baptism is not an end of a Christian journey, in fact, it’s the beginning. There will
be ups and downs as they continue to do their best to follow Christ, and I encourage you to support
them the best way you can. Pray for them, cheer for them, encourage them, and care for them. This
church is a family, and we will do our best to support and encourage each another, wouldn’t you agree?

This week we are starting a brand new series, and I am really excited about this series. I know, I say this almost every time when we start a series, but I really am excited. The reason is I believe this series deals with the question that all of us have at one point or another, whether you are a Christian, or not yet a Christian, you have thought about this question and have asked this question. And, you may have yet found a satisfactory answer. So, what’s the question you ask? You ready? It’s – “God, what is your will for my life?” Yes, God has a plan for you, but his answer to your question may be surprising.

Moving Forward
We often make the mistake of thinking God as a component of our lives. What the Bible tell us is that
God isn’t a part of your life . . . God is your life. As a result, the focus of your life is not the future. The
focus of your life is a person, Jesus. So when our focus is there, Jesus leads us to the future he has for us.

Discussion Questions

1. If you had a chance to ask God one question, what would you ask him?

2. Have you ever asked the question, “God, what should I do with my life?” What was going on in your
life during that time?

3. Read Colossians 3:1-4. What does it mean for God to be your life rather than just a part of your life?

4. The Bible promises that God’s spirit will be in us. What is the difference between asking, “God, what
should I do with my life?” and “God, what should I do with your life that is within me?”

5. The application from this message is to rest in the truth that you’re not supposed to figure out your
future but to trust that God will lead you toward the future he wants to give you. What is the biggest
challenge for you in allowing that to happen?
