Men and Women, Waffles and Spaghetti (1) – What’s the difference?

Welcome to CROLCC, we are so glad you are here worshiping with us. Happy May everyone! As Mother’s day approaches I promised you last week that we are going to do a two part series about men and women starting today. It will probably not be a typical sermon, but never the less we are going to be learning a lot. Some of us are going to be reminded of somethings, some of us are going to learn new things. At the end of the day, I hope you will enjoy this series and I hope you have some fun and laugh with me. Yes, it’s ok to laugh out loud in church, especially in our church.

So today allow me to introduce to you a concept I learned a while back about men and women – waffles and spaghetti. How are food items relate to the topic of men and women? I know you must going crazy right now, well, allow me to explain, and hopefully shed some light to some of the frustrations you have been experiencing, especially if are married. My goal is that not only will you learn about each other’s differences, but eventually accept one another’s differences in order to work together just as how God has designed us to be.

Moving Forward

Men and Women are both created in God’s image. It is God’s will that we accept one another and work together to fulfill God’s purposes in our lives.

Changing Your Mind

Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.
Romans 15:7

Discussion Questions

1. Talk about how you were raised as a man or a woman growing up. Are there expectations placed on you from culture or from your own family to be a certain type of man or woman?

2. Men are like Waffles and Women are like Spaghetti. Do you generally fall under these categories? Why or why not?

3. What has been the most difficult or frustrating thing for you when you communicate with a member of the opposite sex?

4. Read Romans 15:7. Our job is not to change another person, but rather to accept one another’s differences. What can you do to learn to accept the member of the opposite sex? How can this group support you in doing that?
